Job Description SUMMARY

Reporting to the Audience and Marketing Director, the Membership Manager serves as the driving force behind membership acquisition, renewal campaigns, donor stewardship, and database management. The Membership Manager works proactively and creatively to grow and retain NJ PBS's member base as a core revenue and community engagement function, using modern marketing strategies to expand NJ PBS's audience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • In collaboration with the Audience and Marketing Director, coordinate activities to grow NJ PBS’s membership program by implementing acquisition strategies with a focus on sustaining members.
  • Serve as a visible brand ambassador for NJ PBS, using exceptional interpersonal skills to connect with, attract, and engage new members and community partners across all touchpoints, including phone, email, video, and in-person events.
  • Develop and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns tailored for member acquisition; emphasis on social media and other emerging digital channels.
  • Execute day-to-day membership operations, including processing gifts, renewals, and acknowledgments.
  • Develop executive sustainer (recurring giving) conversion and retention strategies.
  • Manage the membership database (CRM) and ensure data accuracy.
  • Coordinate on-air pledge drives in collaboration with production and programming staff.
  • Develop and execute direct mail, email, and digital membership campaigns.
  • Implement member stewardship programs including benefits fulfillment, thank-you calls, and member events.
  • Track membership KPIs and report them to the Audience and Marketing Director.
  • Manage relationships with telemarketing and fulfillment vendors.
  • Respond to member inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with finance on gift reconciliation and reporting.
  • Assist with grant reporting for funders related to membership metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in membership management, nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of designing and executing successful marketing campaigns across social media and digital platforms to attract new audiences or members.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build relationships, engage diverse audiences, and inspire community support.
  • Proficiency with membership or donor management CRM systems.
  • PREFERRED: Experience managing pledge drive operations at a public media station.
  • Experience implementing new or non-traditional membership growth and retention strategies.
  • Familiarity with Allegiance, Salesforce, DonorPerfect, or comparable CRM platforms.
  • Knowledge of FCC fundraising reporting requirements.

Salary Range

$76,486.40-$84,131.83 Annually
