Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Membership Director to oversee all aspects of membership operations for the Family Center. You will lead strategies to acquire and retain members, supervise staff, and build corporate partnerships while guiding fundraising campaigns and ensuring high-quality member service.

Responsibilities include developing membership initiatives, training teams, coordinating registration, and maintaining operational excellence in alignment with association standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Five years of progressive experience in sales, customer service, or membership operations, including at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
• Proven ability to train, motivate, and lead high-performing teams.
• Experience in sales pipeline management, lead generation, and conversion.
• Experience managing corporate outreach initiatives and developing community and business partnerships.
• Budget management with $1.5M+ scope preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and membership database systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to relate effectively to diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes membership strategies to drive new member acquisition and retention.
• Fosters a member-focused culture with relationship-building and empathetic communication.
• Trains and supervises membership associates and volunteers; runs a structured sales training program.
• Leads membership team meetings and professional development.
• Coordinates with Program and Marketing Directors for registration logistics and promotions.
• Collaborates with center leadership to meet membership objectives and operational standards.
• Outreach to local businesses, schools, and organizations to build partnerships.
• Represents the Y at events and organizes Family Center membership events.
• Leads fundraising campaign efforts including donor engagement and volunteer coordination.
• Oversees front desk procedures and collaborates on billing and reconciliation.
• Manages department budget and monitors financial performance.
