Job summary

Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mount Vernon, IL seeks a full-time development professional to grow its membership program, pursue and manage grants, coordinate special events, and oversee facility rentals.

The role reports to the Executive Director and requires a blend of donor relationship skills, strong communications, and the ability to work nights and weekends as needed, with a commitment to confidentiality and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with nonprofit development or related experience.
• Ability to build relationships with donors, members, volunteers, and partners.
• Strong organizational skills, high energy, and initiative.
• Ability to solve problems and work independently or collaboratively.
• Strong written and verbal communication about Cedarhurst's mission.

Responsibilities

• Interact with visitors and members to ensure positive experiences and resolve complaints.
• Oversee the Membership Program and understand levels and benefits.
• Promote upgrades and stewardship of Members.
• Work with Membership Committee volunteers to boost sales and renewals.
• Update membership letters and general member correspondence.
• Ensure consistency and brand identity to support recruitment and retention.
• Identify potential grant opportunities and donor agencies.
• Manage annual grants calendar and write/submission reports.
• Coordinate grant opportunities with staff to increase museum funding.
• Plan and execute Special Events related to fundraising and community engagement.
• Oversee Facility Rentals: management, marketing, bookings, staffing.
• Oversee correspondence, contracts, payments.
• Ensure appropriate use of visitor spaces.
• Develop budgets and long-range goals to increase revenue from Membership, Grants, Events, and Rentals.
• Attend weekly Team Meetings and Trustee meetings.
• Attend community events and serve on committees to promote Cedarhurst offerings.
