Membership Director, Health and Fitness Center

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shifts

The facility offers a wide variety of group fitness classes, indoor and outdoor tennis, heated indoor and outdoor pool, pickleball, racquetball, Squash, childcare, basketball court, in addition to a full selection of strength and cardio equipment.

Covenant Health Fitness Center is the only Tennessee Quality award-winning fitness facility in the state. With five-star amenities, extensive classes, programs for all ages of the family, and The Day Spa, we truly are Knoxville’s best Health and Fitness Center.

In addition to the amenities found throughout the gym our programs include aquatics, racquet sports, youth classes, individual training opportunities, Weight Management program, Small Group Training, virtual fitness, and group fitness. Our group fitness classes range from kickboxing and cardio classes to indoor cycling and mind/body wellness. Strength training options include resistance equipment, free weights, and body sculpting classes.

Position Summary:

Reports directly to the Vice President of FSW and is responsible for designing, coordinating and executing a comprehensive membership, marketing advertising and sales campaign to meet the membership sales and retention goals for Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center. This position is eligible for incentive pay as defined in the Membership Director’s Incentive Plan.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the achieving the membership sales quotas submitted for the annual Health and Fitness Center budget.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and supervising all membership representatives and membership associate positions to assure membership sales are achieved, policies are followed in closing all sales and all paperwork and monies are collected and recorded as required by the business office.
  • Design an annual membership advertising campaign utilizing the support services of the Fortress Marketing Director and monitor monthly advertising expenditures for the department.
  • Develop systems to insure prospective members through leads, referral networks, guest passes, corporate presentations and other programs as necessary.
  • Document departmental statistics which may include: sales per representative or associate, commissions per representative or associate, tracking of phone inquiries per direct mail campaigns, attrition data per month, and other statistics as requested by Vice President of FSW or the General Manger of Center.
  • Participate in the Manager’s Meetings and Manager on Duty schedule of Health and Fitness Center to offer input to operations that impact sales and attrition.
Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or fitness related industry

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years experience as a sales representative in the fitness industry. Supervisory experience preferred.

Previous experience working in sales environment preferred. Previous experience supervising staff preferred.
