The Member Service Staff is responsible for welcoming members and guests into the facility, for answering and transferring calls, inputting information into the computer, and for communicating policy and program information to visitors at the desk. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is responsible for upholding the Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be multi-task oriented. Basic use and knowledge of computers. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Certain bilingual staff may be need to serve as a liaison with population segments.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Current CPR/AED certification or must certify within 30 days of employment.
Must complete YMCA Safety Trainings within 14 days of employment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
