A little about us
GVEA is an electric cooperative that owns and maintains 3,491 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, Clear Space Force Station, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, which extends from Homer to Fairbanks. As a Member Services Representative I – Frontline at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will serve as a primary point of contact for members, providing support with account setup, payments, billing questions, service requests, and general cooperative information. You will help create and maintain member accounts, process connect and disconnect orders, assist with electronic billing and payment systems, and ensure account information is accurate and confidential.
You will also support members during high-stress situations, including outages and disconnects for nonpayment, by explaining available options and helping resolve concerns in accordance with GVEA policies and procedures. This role requires professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple requests while delivering a high level of customer service.
To succeed in this role, candidates should have a strong customer service background, good communication skills, and the ability to remain professional under pressure. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling payments, balancing cash, using office systems, and assisting members both in person and by phone. Strong teamwork, problem-solving ability, and adaptability to new technology are also important.
