Job summary

Essential Credit Union in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a friendly, career-minded Member Service Representative to deliver outstanding member service and drive sales within a full-service financial center.

You will open accounts, educate members on products, process loans and services, and act as a trusted advisor to expand relationships while maintaining compliance and high service standards.

Responsibilities

• Open various new accounts, process necessary information and educate members as to services/products available.
• Drive sales and success through service; achieve sales and referral goals through expanded product set (banking, insurance and investments).
• Act as a financial advisor and accountable for sales outcomes.
• Build a book of business by expanding relationships to contribute to financial center and personal goals.
• Assist with services including open/close Shared Certificates, Safe Deposit Boxes, checkbooks, credit card/loan apps, wires, fraud issues, notary, close accounts.
• Maximize productivity with listening, attention to detail, and adaptability to meet goals.
• Explain and expedite opening/closing/transfer/rollover of IRA certificates.
• Assist with opening CDs and educate on penalties and earnings.
• Perform duties of Member Service Representative; provide backup to tellers.
• Interview loan applicants, explain options, rates, terms, collateral, and required documentation.
• Using credit guidelines, approve/deny and disburse loans adhering to policy.
• Maintain physical center appearance and security of members, staff, and assets.
• Set up auto transfers, ACH transfers, and wires.
• Comply with policies and laws including BSA, Patriot Act, OFAC.
• Promote credit union products via outside marketing and business calls to highlight full-service features.
