CalOptima

CalOptima Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Member Liaison Specialist (Behavioral Health) to join our team. The incumbent will assist Medi-Cal and OneCare members with behavioral health care management needs in a call center environment. Responsibilities include securing behavioral health appointments, following up with members, providing information, referring to community resources, and helping members navigate the behavioral health system of care. The role acts as a liaison to coordinate services among members, providers, and community agencies, and participates in behavioral health initiatives and projects.

Position Details
  • Department: BHI - Call Center
  • Salary Grade: 302 - $49,754 - $69,655 ($23.92 - $33.48/hr)
  • Work Arrangement: Full Telework (California-based)
Responsibilities
  1. Program Support (80%)
  • Participate in a member-focused, high-quality performance culture.
  • Support members with short-term care management and behavioral health appointments.
  • Coordinate behavioral health needs within and outside CalOptima.
  • Communicate with members, caregivers, and providers to facilitate linkage to services.
  • Document cases in the Medical Management system.
  • Initiate referrals to care management and community agencies.
  • Administrative Support (15%)
    • Assist the team with department responsibilities and support departmental goals.
    • Maintain a network of community resources for member referrals.
  • Other Duties (5%)
    • Complete additional projects and duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • High School diploma or equivalent + 2 years in behavioral health, community service, or social services; or equivalent experience.
    • Access to transportation for approximately 5% of work time.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in behavioral health or related field.
    • Experience with HMO, Medi-Cal, Medicare, or health services.
    • Bilingual in English and one of the following languages: Arabic, Farsi, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese.
    Knowledge & Abilities
    • Ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships.
    • Work independently with sound judgment.
    • Clear communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant systems.
