Job summary

YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association is seeking a Manager on Duty (MOD) to welcome members, volunteers, and staff, while supporting members toward their goals and promoting involvement. The MOD oversees building operations, safety, conduct, and age-appropriateness during assigned hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.

The role emphasizes incident management, staff engagement, branch reporting, member support, and tours for prospective members.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience in customer service, security, or supervision is preferred.
• Ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds and ages; enforce YMCA policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage and document incidents and ensure follow-through.
• Model member engagement and service principles and celebrate staff contributions.
• Report branch activities and member success stories to leadership.
• Provide support to members and program participants.
• Tour prospective members and invite them to join.
• Maintain clean and presentable facilities and equipment.
• Enforce safety standards and policies.
