Job summary

Marine Credit Union is seeking a Member Advocate III to help members reach their financial goals. You will greet members, educate them on MCU products, and provide teller and account services, including openings and maintenance.

You will assess loan needs, evaluate credit, and guide members through lending—from application to funding—while mentoring branch staff and promoting digital banking. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level wording not provided; candidate should have strong problem solving, product knowledge, lending and sales capabilities.
• Knowledge of MCU products and services is required.
• At least 1 year of sales experience; lending experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Cash handling experience required.
• Ability to learn and adhere to all policies/procedures.
• Customer-focused; excels at creating great experiences and relationships.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet members and own the overall experience from entry to exit.
• Build relationships by learning financial goals and recommending MCU products.
• Provide one-touch resolution to member inquiries or direct to appropriate staff.
• Act as a technology liaison for digital wallet, mobile, and online banking.
• Advise on specialty accounts (decedent, business, IRAs, trusts, estates, power of attorney, rep payee, custodial, guardianship).
• Evaluate creditworthiness, loan structure, pricing, and terms; recommend approvals/denials.
• Make outbound calls to educate members or support campaigns.
• Collaborate with the branch team and promote teamwork.
• Mentor and train branch staff on areas of expertise.
• Deliver excellent written and verbal communication with members.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Time split: 25% teller; 75% helping members advance financially.
