Job summary

Mainstreet Credit Union in Lenexa seeks a Member Advocate to deepen member relationships through consultative service, education, and accurate documentation for lending and deposit needs. You will mitigate risk, process applications, and support underwriting decisions while upholding credit union standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration.
• 1 year cash handling and/or financial institution experience required.
• 1–3 years consumer lending experience in a financial institution required.
• Must meet criteria for Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).
• FiCEP Certification within 12 months of hire.
• Strong attention to detail and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and nurture positive relationships with members through proactive communication and onboarding.
• Consult with members to identify current and future financial service needs.
• Assess needs and pair members with relevant products and services with referrals when needed.
• Ensure procedural compliance, accuracy, and authenticity of information and documents.
• Assist members with account openings including checking, shares, CDs, money markets, IRAs, and trust accounts.
• Interview members, collect documentation for loan applications, and support underwriting decisions.
• Meet MAPS and branch goals through active performance.
• Mentor peers and support team development through job-shadowing.
• Process and audit deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and payments; balance cash drawer daily.
• Maintain knowledge of credit union products and services for accurate referrals.
• Understand state and federal laws related to credit union compliance (BSA, AML, elder abuse).
• Work flexible hours, may cover other branches as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
