Orion Steel Group is seeking an Area Manager - Melt Shop to lead the Rocky Mountain melt shop operations, including EAF, LRF, and VTD. You will ensure safety, quality, and cost objectives while directing supervisors and bargaining unit employees under the union contract.

Responsibilities include driving production schedules, process optimization, and regression analysis with maintenance and labs to improve reliability and performance in a fast-paced steelmaking environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; bachelor’s preferred in metallurgical or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years in melt shop operations.
• Experience leading teams in a unionized environment preferred.
• In-depth understanding of EAF steelmaking and secondary metallurgy.
• Strong leadership and labor relations skills.

Responsabilités

• Direct and coordinate daily melt shop operations (EAF, LRF, VTD) to meet production schedules and product specs.
• Promote safety-first culture and ensure environmental compliance.
• Coordinate with lab teams to review test results and adjust processes.
• Supervise bargaining unit employees and administer the collective bargaining agreement.
• Manage melt shop operating costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Partner with maintenance to schedule repairs and improve equipment reliability.
• Lead capital projects related to melt shop improvements.
