Job summary

Rocky Mountain Steel Mills in Denver seeks an Area Manager - Melt Shop to lead safe, efficient EAF/LRF/VTD operations. You will supervise melt shop crews, manage the collective bargaining agreement, and drive continuous improvement with Lean initiatives.

Responsibilities include production planning, cost control, quality targets, and collaboration with maintenance and reliability teams to maximize equipment uptime while upholding safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required, bachelor's degree preferred in metallurgical engineering, materials sciences, mechanical engineering or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Direct melt shop operations (EAF, LRF, VTD) to meet production schedules.
• Troubleshoot process/equipment issues and drive improvements.
• Enforce safety policies and environmental compliance.
• Lead unionized workforce and administer bargaining agreement.
• Control costs of consumables, electrodes and refractories.
• Coordinate with maintenance for reliability and uptime.
• Lead capital projects and operational improvements.
