Rocky Mountain Steel Mills is seeking an Area Manager - Melt Shop to lead safe, efficient operation of EAF, LRF, and VTD, ensuring production targets and metallurgical quality while controlling costs. You will supervise melt shop teams and union-represented workers under the bargaining agreement, driving accountability and continuous improvement.

This role collaborates with Maintenance, Reliability and Technical teams to improve equipment reliability, lead Lean initiatives, and manage capital

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; bachelor's in metallurgical engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing, steel manufacturing preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of melt shop operations experience preferred.
• Experience leading teams in a unionized environment preferred.

Responsabilités

• Direct melt shop operations (EAF, LRF, VTD) to meet production schedules and product specs.
• Promote safety-first culture and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement and Lean/RMSM initiatives.
• Manage labor relations and supervise bargaining unit employees.
• Coordinate maintenance and improve equipment reliability.
• Lead capital projects related to the melt shop and automation.
