Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Melt Shop Manager to lead daily operations, safety, and production goals. The role focuses on driving performance in a high-output melt shop environment while upholding safety standards and cost efficiency.

You will oversee maintenance, inventory, and continuous improvement initiatives, managing a team of supervisors and hourly staff, and collaborating with other departments to meet cost and tonnage targets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a Melt Shop environment.
• Strong management skills overseeing supervisors and hourly staff in a non-union setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; communicate across the business.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and upholds the Safety Culture.
• Ensure that cost and tonnage objectives are met.
• Assist in developing short- and long-term production goals and capital requirements.
• Manage, schedule and direct day-to-day operations of the EAF.
• Maintain housekeeping standards.
• Oversee production to meet quality standards and assist QC in root-cause analysis.
• Work with supervisors to maintain equipment for efficient melt shop operations.
• Develop and oversee training plans and succession planning.
• Oversee melt shop inventories and reduce obsolete items while increasing turns.
