Job summary

Commercial Metals (CMC) invites applications for a hands-on maintenance/utility position in our Melt Shop. You will support maintenance personnel, follow safety rules, perform routine inspections and minor repairs, and keep work areas clean while meeting daily production needs.

You will gain exposure across Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting, and Refractories, work a rotating shift including weekends and holidays, and contribute to a team that values reliability and continuous improvement.

• Basic computer skills.
• Dependability in attendance and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Must learn quickly and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed.
• Work safely by following safety rules and wearing PPE.
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are completed each shift.
• Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs.
• Maintain daily housekeeping in assigned areas.
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
• Assist furnace and arc furnace operators with various tasks.
• Assist with filling alloys, refractories, and other materials as needed.
• Prepare for repairs by cleaning and arranging tools and materials.
• Lays bricks and prepares ladles, furnaces, and tundishes for use.
• Operate cutting tools for operational needs.
• Repair or replace fire brick lining as required.
• Take slag samples and monitor steel temperature.
• Train across Melt Shop areas including Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting, and Refractories.
