Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for R&D Design & Development Co-ops for the Spring 2027 term in Cincinnati, OH. The program offers on-site training, access to state-of-the-art tools, and a path to hands-on product design experience inside Ethicon Surgical Technologies.

Rotations are 3–4 months with housing assistance for non-local students; stipends are provided to support living costs. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited program and legally work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field (PhD may be considered).
• Minimum GPA 3.0; two semesters completed; sophomore or above.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States for the full duration of the co-op term; no visa sponsorship required.
• Previous internship or co-op in the medical device industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Use state-of-the-art tools and participate in on-site training.
• Conduct testing, experimentation, and validation to support product design.
• Contribute to design solution activities using CAD and simulation tools with mentorship from engineers.
• Assist in developing laboratory testing and interpreting data to determine next steps.
• Potential to receive intermediate CAD training and build simulation models.
