Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Ethicon, Inc. is recruiting for R&D Engineering & Data Science Co-ops for the Spring 2027 term in Cincinnati, OH. The program features 3–4 month rotations, housing assistance for non-local students, and a stipend to help with living costs.

Candidates will work with interdisciplinary teams on data-driven surgical tool development and analysis. Applicants should be enrolled in engineering or computing programs, with Python data science skills, and a strong interest in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computing.
• Must have completed at least two semesters before the term.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for the full term.

Responsibilities

• Analyze structured and unstructured surgical data to provide insights for R&D teams.
• Support product concepts for new surgical tools and platforms.
• Write software to enable data analysis and ensure data quality.
• Develop and run mechanical, electrical, and biological tissue lab experiments.
• Design and optimize data visualizations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Hardware Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists.
• Leverage on-site and virtual training resources during rotations.
