Job summary

BD is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform hands-on maintenance on electronic and mechanical equipment in a high‑quality manufacturing environment in Columbus, NE. You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and support engineering projects while adhering to cGMPs and BD safety policies.

The role requires reading blueprints, basic SAP/Excel/Word skills, and the ability to work overtime as needed. On-site collaboration is emphasized to sustain reliable operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associates Degree in a technical field preferred or two years technical experience in lieu of degree
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics; maintain records

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, diagnose causes and repair equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Support engineering projects—ordering and installation of new equipment, IQs.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve reliability.
• Test electronic circuits with oscilloscopes, signal generators, amps and voltmeters.
• Install/modify and understand control panel wiring; work with PLCs and ladder logic.
• Train operators and assist with machine set-ups/operation.
• Coordinate with tool room for spare parts and repairs.
• Propose design changes to upgrade equipment and reduce issues.
• Work overtime or on-call as needed.
• Other duties to support the business.
