Job summary

Paylocity seeks a Unit Clerk to support nursing staff in a hospital setting. Under RN supervision, you perform clerical, receptionist, and charting duties, handling confidential information and coordinating with medical staff and external agencies in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include preparing patient charts, transcribing orders, answering calls, routing requests (EKG, labs, X-ray), maintaining the nurses’ station, and assisting with room assignments.

Qualifications

• Education level equivalent to a high school diploma.
• Formal Training: Management skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications.
• Licensure, Certification, Registration: None, Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Work Experience: One year of experience as a ward clerk, unit clerk, or medical office secretary is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone and intercom accurately relaying messages.
• Transcribes the Physician’s Orders in an accurate and timely manner.
• Prepares and routes patient request slips as necessary (EKG, Respiratory Therapy, Lab, X-Ray, etc.).
• Transcribes information from worksheets to patient charts as necessary.
• Prepares charts for patients ensuring inclusion and completion of required documents.
• Greets patients and visitors at the Nurses’ Station and maintains a neat, orderly work area.
• Maintains the Nurses’ Station in a neat, orderly manner and assists with room assignments.
