Job summary

Gateway Truck & Refrigeration in Cicero, IL is seeking a skilled Truck Technician to service and repair medium-duty diesel trucks, conduct preventative maintenance, and road test vehicles for proper operation.

Ideal candidates hold a High School diploma, a CDL (preferred), and 2+ years of experience in a similar role; we value reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL driver's license with clean driving record (preferred).
• 2+ years' experience as a Truck Technician or similar position (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs on medium-duty diesel trucks.
• Carry out Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using testing equipment.
• Identify warranty repairs and document on the repair order.
• Keep work area clean and safe.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

• Perform mechanical repairs on medium-duty diesel trucks
• Perform all levels of Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs
• Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure they are properly working
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using testing equipment such as laptop computers, motor analyzers, temperature and pressure gauges
• Identify warranty repairs and document properly on the repair order
• Keep work area clean and safe
• Other duties as assigned
