Job summary

Carolinas Alliance for Residential Excellence is seeking a qualified supervisor to oversee Administrator/Resident Care Coordinator duties and manage patient care staff at a North Carolina facility. The role requires coordination of transfers, incident reporting, medication administration, and adherence to resident rights.

The position emphasizes staffing coverage, staff discipline, and ongoing CEU completion to maintain licensure and quality care in a regulatory environment.

Qualifications

• Must meet the requirements of the Supervisor-In-Charge, as well as, meet the training and testing requirements as outlined by the state regulatory guidelines.
• Must complete required continuing education units annually.

Responsibilities

• Assume all written and delegated assignments of the Administrator and/or Resident Care Coordinator.
• Provide direction and assignments to other patient care assistants.
• Prepare resident transfer forms and documents as required for hospital or other service providers.
• Complete accident/incidents reports as is necessary.
• Ensure that there is staff coverage on the hall at all times, and that all employees receive adequate breaks on their shift.
• Discipline, counsel, and document violations of policies and procedures by staff.
• Enforce all facility rules and regulations for staff and residents, and assist in making sure that resident rights are acknowledged by all staff members.
• Handle employee grievances with tact, courtesy, and consideration.
• Perform medication administration in a timely and structured manner, making sure to handle all medications properly.
• Perform narcotic counts per facility policy and in accordance with state regulations.
• Respect the resident's right to privacy and autonomy during med passes.
• Supervise those residents that are approved for self-administration of medications and assure proper administration techniques.
• Notify Resident Care Coordinator and/or Administrator of significant changes in residents and document these changes as is appropriate.
• Seek treatment for residents experiencing acute episodes of an illness or those in need of emergency services.
• Communicate with Resident Care Coordinator, Administrator, and/or the facility pharmacy to ensure that all resident medications are available and appropriate for administration.
• Dispose of discontinued or refused medications properly and document the disposal.
• Maintain a current certification, which means obtaining the required annual CEUs.
