Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in the Greater Manchester Region. You will collect medication histories from patients on arrival to the Emergency Department and support admission processes.

Responsibilities include interviewing patients and families, maintaining confidential reports, and using the hospital computer system to enter and retrieve data. Strong communication with clinicians is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Understanding of medical terminology and medication-related terms is required.
• 1 year of experience as a pharmacy tech in a retail setting, or 6 months conducting medication histories or similar experience.

Responsibilities

Responsible for gathering accurate medication histories information from patients arriving at the Emergency Department, this information is done by interviewing patient/family/significant other upon arrival to be admitted to the inpatient units. Completes various related administrative which alleviate pharmacist time. Responsible to maintain confidential reports, enter and retrieve data utilizing the computer system, and speak confidently with patients/family, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Requires an appropriate level of understanding and training in medical terminology and medication related terms

Experience

• One (1) year of experience as a pharmacy tech in a retail setting.
• Or, six month experience conducting medication histories and/or similar experiences

Licensure, Certification, Registration

• Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection required by March 31st of each year.
