The job entails assisting with the medication reconciliation process by interviewing patients and contacting pharmacies and physician offices to obtain an accurate medication history. In addition, the position entails being a resource for the pharmacist and assisting nursing and physicians with medication related requests.

Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma in combination with pharmacy experience OR High School Diploma and successful completion of an academic or military pharmacy technician training program. Certification by the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or equivalent, required on or within 6 months of hire.
Experience
6 months Pharmacy technician experience or healthcare experience required; retail/medication history experience preferred. Completion of an academic or military pharmacy technician training program will be considered equivalent to one year of pharmacy technician experience. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.
Licensure
Current registration/licensure or eligibility for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of employment, as outlined by the respective State regulatory agencies. Active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification, or equivalent, is required on or within 12 months of hire.
Special Skills
Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in Connecticut, able to prioritize demands, work independently, show flexibility and teamwork. Must have excellent communication skills, proficiency in mathematical calculations, accuracy, problem solving, attention to detail, knowledge of computer applications, and ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment. Capable of basic troubleshooting with computer and technology equipment.
Physical Demand
May be required to work mandatory on-call shifts, including days and evenings. Considered essential personnel and expected to work during inclement weather.
