Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Des Moines, IA, is hiring a Medication History Pharmacy Technician for the evening shift. You will obtain, verify, and record initial medication histories from patients or family members at point of care, ensuring accuracy for the patient care areas.

You will interview patients and families, document med lists and allergies in the EMR, and collaborate with pharmacists to resolve any uncertainties, upholding MercyOne’s commitment to safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification and Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire OR Registered as a Pharmacist-Intern with the State of Iowa at time of hire
• 2,000 hours of pharmacy technician experience

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record current medication lists in the EMR, including prescriptions, OTCs, vitamins, and supplements
• Interview patients and/or family/caregivers to establish best possible medication history
• Consult with a pharmacist for unresolved uncertainties about medication or allergy history
