Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Medication History Pharmacy Technician to obtain and verify patients' initial medication histories and document accurate records upon presentation. You will interview patients or their families to capture current regimens, including prescriptions, OTCs, vitamins and herbal supplements.

The role requires a valid pharmacy technician certification, 2000 hours experience, and Iowa Board registration, or equivalent pharmacist-intern status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required when nationally certified through NHA
• PCTB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification; 2000 hours of pharmacy technician experience; and Iowa Board registration at hire
• Or Registered Pharmacist-Intern with the State of Iowa at time of hire

Responsibilities

• Obtain, verify for accuracy, and record initial medication histories from patients and/or family/caregivers
• Interview patients/families to collect current med regimens including prescription, OTC, vitamins, and supplements
• Perform other duties per Iowa pharmacy technician scope as needed

As a Medication History Pharmacy Technician at MercyOne, you will provide technical support in obtaining, verifying for accuracy, and recording initial medication histories from patients &/or their designated family/caregivers upon presentation to Mercy patient care areas. This includes conducting patient &/or family interviews focused on obtaining current medication regimens including prescription andover-the-counter(non-prescription) medications, as well as vitamin and herbal supplements. Will also perform other functions of a pharmacy technician registered in the State of Iowa and within the scope of Iowa law as needed.

Schedule:

• 40 hours a week
• 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
• Every 3rd weekend

Minimum Qualifications:

• High schooldiploma or GEDrequiredwhen nationally certified through NHA
• PCTB nationally certified technicians do NOTrequireHS diploma or GED
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within 3 months of hire
• National Pharmacy TechnicianCertification; Minimum of2000hoursof pharmacy technician experiencerequired; andRegistered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire
