Job summary

The Village of St. Edward is seeking a Certified Medication Aide for 4-hour shifts (7am-11am or 7pm-11pm) at our Wadsworth campus. The CMA provides personal care and administers medications under nurse direction in a Memory Care/ Assisted Living setting.

Candidates must have a current Medication Aide Certification from the Ohio Board of Nursing, be 18+, and have reliable transportation. STNA in Ohio is preferred; lifting ability and compassionate communication are essential for resident

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least 2 years full-time experience as a Resident Assistant in Assisted Living/Memory Care.
• Preferred STNA in Ohio.
• Current Medication Aide Certification approved by Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently and more with assistance.
• Ability to bend, stoop and reach; infection control awareness.
• Effective therapeutic communication and professional empathy.
• Willingness to work every other weekend/holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide for personal care needs of residents as delegated by the nurse.
• Monitor resident conditions and report changes to supervising staff.
• Administer certain medications under direction of LPN/RN.
• Document observations and assist in emergency responses as needed.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward the Medication Aide provides for personal care needs of residents and provides assistance and activities as delegated by the nurse. Some tasks that are delegated by the supervising LPN/RN including monitoring resident conditions, documenting and reporting any condition changes, monitoring for drug reactions and at the direction of LPN/RN, administer certain types of medication.

Qualifications:

• Must at least be 18 years of age
• Must have reliable transportation
• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• Must have 2 years full experience as a Resident Assistant within Assisted Living / Memory Care
• Preferred State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) in Ohio
• Current Medication Aide Certification approved by Ohio Board of Nursing
• Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Possesses the necessary dexterity to feed, bathe, etc.
• Possesses the ability to bend, stoop, and reach at different angles.
• Walks, stands, and sits intermittently throughout the day.
• Well-lighted, well-ventilated rooms and halls.
• Must understand infection control performance.
• Must be able to utilize therapeutic communication.
• Must communicate professionally and with empathy to residents, families, visitors and coworkers
• Required to make independent decisions.
• Required to assist in response to emergency situations.
• Must be able to work an Every Other Weekend/ Every Other Holiday Rotation
