Job summary

The Village of St. Edward is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to support residents in our Wadsworth Campus, Assisted Living/Memory Care. The role includes personal care, medication administration as delegated by nurses, and monitoring residents for changes in condition.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years full experience as a Resident Assistant within Assisted Living / Memory Care.
• Current Medication Aide Certification approved by Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide for personal care needs of residents and assist with activities as delegated by the nurse.
• Monitor resident conditions, document and report any condition changes.
• Monitor for drug reactions and, at the direction of LPN/RN, administer certain types of medication.
• Maintain infection control and communicate professionally and with empathy to residents, families, visitors and coworkers.

Summary Of Position

In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward the Medication Aide provides for personal care needs of residents and provides assistance and activities as delegated by the nurse. Some tasks that are delegated by the supervising LPN/RN including monitoring resident conditions, documenting and reporting any condition changes, monitoring for drug reactions and at the direction of LPN/RN, administer certain types of medication.

• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• Must have 2 years full experience as a Resident Assistant within Assisted Living / Memory Care
• Preferred State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) in Ohio
• Current Medication Aide Certification approved by Ohio Board of Nursing
• Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Possesses the necessary dexterity to feed, bathe, etc.
• Possesses the ability to bend, stoop, and reach at different angles.
• Walks, stands, and sits intermittently throughout the day
• Well-lighted, well-ventilated rooms and halls.
• Must understand infection control performance.
• Must be able to utilize therapeutic communication.
• Must communicate professionally and with empathy to residents, families, visitors and coworkers
• Required to make independent decisions.
• Required to assist in response to emergency situations.
• Must be able to work an Every Other Weekend/ Every Other Holiday Rotation
