Job summary

HCA Florida Brandon Hospital is seeking a PRN Medical Technologist to perform accurate laboratory testing, review and document patient results, and ensure timely turnaround of tests. The role requires relevant MT credentials and the ability to operate with independence when the supervisor is absent.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred), Florida MT license (or ability to obtain), and 1+ year of MT experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold Florida Technologist License or able to obtain during interview.
• Associate degree required; Bachelor's in Medical Technology preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of MT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing by analyzing proficiency testing samples according to instructions and complete within the allowable time frame
• Assume responsibility of the department as appropriate in the absence of the supervisor
• Complete all required records/documentation pertaining to patient results
• Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets
• Demonstrate the ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results.
• Review pending logs (OSR) and result logs; resolve any outstanding workload or communicate to staff relief
• Perform quality control procedures per protocol and handle all problem and/or critical laboratory specimens/test results
