Job summary

South Baldwin Medical Group is seeking a Medical Technologist I to perform routine and complex laboratory testing in an evening shift. You will ensure accurate results, maintain QC, and assist with data collection for regulatory compliance.

The role may include teaching new staff and performing phlebotomy duties as needed, while upholding safety standards and quality control across the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field required
• Passing score on Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency examination approved by HHS (HEW) required
• 0-2 years of acute care experience required

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely reporting of results with documentation.
• Adheres to quality control procedures by performing checks, analyzing data, and taking corrective actions as needed.
• Conducts instrument function checks and preventative maintenance per policies.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Ensures laboratory procedures comply with safety regulations and Laboratory Safety Plan.
• Communicates results and issues to peers, supervisors, and healthcare staff.
• Assists with proficiency testing and data collection for accreditation and compliance.
• Collects urine drug screens and performs phlebotomy duties as required.
• Collaborates with team to ensure shift duties are completed efficiently.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance and adheres to policies.
