Job summary

Tulane University seeks a Medical Technologist to perform blood and body fluid testing, including CBCs, clinical chemistries, and bacterial cultures, in a Biosafety Level 2 and 3 environment.

The role requires completing an accredited MT program and MT certification. You will correlate results, maintain equipment, prepare reagents, and train staff, with focus on data entry and interpretation while observing PPE rules. Minimal weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Medical Technology program.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Technologist program.
• ASCP or AAB MT certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform CBCs, clinical chemistries, and bacterial cultures.
• Correlate and interpret data based on techniques and instruments.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment; prepare reagents.
• Train new employees and students; data entry and interpretation of test results.
• Willing to work in BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories with PPE and policy compliance.
• Minimal weekend and holiday coverage.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Medical Technology Program

Completion of an accredited Medical Technologist Program

Certification as a Medical Technologist by the ASCP or AAB
