Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, logs, and safety/quality protocols.
• Serve as a resource for training and troubleshooting.
• Perform quality assurance activities and participate in proficiency testing.
• Support supervision and manage workflows during supervisor absences.
• Assist CAP and Joint Commission readiness with documentation.
• Participate in blood bank rotations if assigned.

Role Overview

The Medical Technologist II performs clinical laboratory testing across various areas, including General Lab and Blood Bank, under supervision. They utilize independent judgment to analyze blood and body fluids, ensuring accurate results and maintaining quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducts routine and specialized tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank sections.
• Maintains laboratory equipment, logs activities, and ensures compliance with safety and quality protocols.
• Acts as a resource for training, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues.
• Performs quality assurance activities, updates procedures, and participates in proficiency testing.
• Provides support during supervisor absences, including supervising staff and managing workflows.
• Supports CAP and Joint Commission readiness and maintains documentation for compliance.
• If assigned, participates in blood bank rotations, handling blood products and STAT duties.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Health Science, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (e.g., MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), etc.) required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ laboratory experience; Epic experience preferred.
• Proficient in computer/data entry, communication skills, and basic software like Excel and Word.
