Summary:

Performs a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks supporting clinical activities in UNCHCS.

Responsibilities:

1. Investigate issues with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
2. Participate in teams or perform special projects/assignments.
3. Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents; train new employees; serve as a technical resource.
4. Perform quality control and equipment maintenance in the laboratory.
5. Conduct routine and specialized tests, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic procedures; observe tests and reactions, and record data.
6. Prepare specimens, reagents, solutions, and perform necessary heating or filtering.
7. Report results to healthcare providers and discuss findings as needed.
8. Review test results for accuracy and ensure timely correction of errors.

Other Information

Education Requirements: Bachelor's of Science degree; must meet eligibility to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming exam eligible.
