Job summary

St. David's South Austin Medical Center, part of St. David's HealthCare, seeks a Medical Technologist to perform moderate to high complexity testing, analyze results, and ensure specimen integrity.

Qualifications

• 2 years of generalist and blood bank experience in acute care setting (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Clinical rotation or internship or equivalent which leads to eligibility to take the registry exam.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing and adhere to laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
• Receive specimens, print labels, and enter/verify patient data without errors.
• Operate and troubleshoot test systems and identify problems affecting test performance or reporting.
• Ensure age-appropriate test selection and reference ranges; ensure timely laboratory result availability.
• Perform quality control activities and respond to outlier results; participate in proficiency testing.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field
