Job summary

St. David’s Medical Center is seeking a Medical Technologist to join the team as a PRN with night shift coverage in Austin, Texas.

The role focuses on moderate and high complexity testing, with responsibilities from specimen handling to reporting results and QC activities. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology, MT/ASCP certification or eligibility, and 2 years of generalist and blood bank experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 years of generalist and blood bank experience in acute care setting preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Eligibility to take the registry exam within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing and report results.
• Analyze quality control results and ensure specimen integrity.
• Receive specimens, print labels, and verify patient data accurately.
• Operate and troubleshoot test systems.
• Identify problems affecting test performance or reporting.
• Ensure age-appropriate test selection and reference ranges.
• Ensure timely availability of laboratory results.
• Perform quality control activities and respond to outliers.
• Participate in proficiency testing in applicable areas.
