Job summary

St. Davids South Austin Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform moderate and high complexity testing and to analyze, review, and report results with strict adherence to laboratory procedures.

You will handle specimen processing, data entry, and system troubleshooting in a fast-paced clinical setting. The position requires 2 years of generalist/blood bank experience (preferred), a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, and MT certification or Registry

Qualifications

• 2 years of generalist and blood bank experience in acute care setting – preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field
• Graduation from a clinical rotation or internship from an accredited medical technology program OR equivalent
• Registration as a Medical Technologist (MT) by ASCP, NCA, or AMT OR passing registry exam within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing and follow lab procedures for specimen handling and processing
• Receive specimens, print labels, and enter/verify patient data without errors
• Operate and troubleshoot test systems
• Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting of results
• Ensure age-appropriate test selection and reference ranges
• Ensure timely availability of laboratory results
• Perform quality control activities and respond to outlier results
• Participate in proficiency testing in applicable technical areas
