Qualifications

• BS degree from an accredited university or equivalent.
• Preferably ASCP/AMT certification.
• Medical Technology internship at an affiliated hospital or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Analyze body fluids across chemistry, serology, toxicology, special chemistry, TDM, urinalysis, coagulation, and cell counting to aid in diagnosis.
• Microscopic analysis of human cells in hematology and clinical microscopy to aid in diagnosis.
• Analyze human blood for transfusion medicine to support community blood supply.
• Analyze sites of infection to identify pathogenic organisms across microbiology, mycology, mycobacteriology, virology, and parasitology.
• Perform QC, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on analyzers and testing methodologies.
• Computer entry – register patients, order tests in Meditech, and verify results.
• Communicate test results to physicians, nurses, and clients and follow patient safety protocols.
• Review outstanding specimen reports for each department and shift.
• Perform phlebotomies and capillary sticks to obtain samples.
• Answer incoming calls from clients, physicians, and nursing staff.
• Orient and mentor staff.
• Follow Standard Precautions with PPE.
