Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Towson, MD is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform diagnostic testing across various complexity levels. You will calibrate equipment, prepare reagents, and ensure accuracy of results while adhering to quality control procedures.

The role also involves supervising students, supporting quality improvement, and contributing to ongoing education within a collaborative lab team. A strong foundation in theory and reporting is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in medical technology or related science with required experience.
• Alternative pathway with an AS degree and four years of related clinical lab experience.
• Eligible for certification in Medical Technology or subspecialty certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic laboratory tests (waived to highly complex) on blood and other specimens.
• Calibrate and maintain instruments; troubleshoot basic instrument malfunctions.
• Prepare reagents and media per procedures; document quality control and take corrective action as needed.
• Supervise students and less experienced staff as needed; participate in quality improvement activities.
• Contribute to continuing education and share knowledge with the team.
