Job summary

UAB Medical West is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform complex laboratory tests on patient samples, including blood, urine, and other bodily fluids, and to interpret results for patient care. You will operate and maintain analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges, ensure quality control, and document results in the LIS.

A bachelor’s degree and ASCP-eligible/registered MT credential are required, with 1 year of clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field.
• 1 year of experience as a Registered Medical Technologist.
• Registered as a Medical Technologist or MLS by the Board of Registry of the ASCP or equivalent.
• Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory tests on patient samples, such as blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges.
• Analyze test results and accurately interpret data to provide healthcare professionals with timely information.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of test results by following established protocols and quality control procedures.
