Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Medical Technologist for the Core Lab to perform and verify routine and complex chemistry tests, reporting accurate results in a high-volume environment. You will support instrument evaluations, QC, troubleshooting, and may participate in education sessions and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Two qualification pathways: degree + internship (NAACLS/ASCP or AMT) or Medical Technology track with internship.
• Certification from ASCP or AMT must be obtained within 13 months from date of hire.
• BLS certification may be required within 30 days depending on patient-care duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform, verify and report results of routine and complex laboratory procedures.
• Assist supervisor with evaluating new instruments, reagent prep, QC data, troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
• Assist team lead with apheresis procedures, bone marrows and coordinating educational sessions and quality control activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or related field with NAACLS/ASCP or AMT certification
