Job summary

The Community Blood Center in Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform specialized laboratory testing, prepare blood components, and ensure quality and safety of products used to save lives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a laboratory science, ASCP preferred, and the ability to work 40 hours with on-call weekends; strong attention to detail and documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in lab science or related field, or an Associate Degree in Laboratory Science
• ASCP certification (or eligible) preferred
• Meets CLIA requirements for high complexity testing
• Previous laboratory experience preferred
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Ability to follow procedures with accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

• Perform testing activities: antigen typing, residual WBC testing, high titer screening, pH testing, and hematology analyzer operation
• Ship, handle, and label test samples
• Conduct equipment maintenance, temperature monitoring, and QC
• Prepare, store, label, and ship blood components and reagents
• May assist with donor center collection activities
• Assist with training of new staff and procedures
• Maintain a neat, clean work area and proper biohazard waste separation
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotations
