FMOL Health is seeking a qualified professional to conduct routine tests for diagnostic support and perform related duties. The role emphasizes phlebotomy, accuracy, safety, and adherence to standards in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree and be ASCP/AMT certified (or equivalent) with maintenance of certification. New grads must pass the certification exam within 6 months of hire; MS licensure is not required.

Job Description

Conducts routine tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, and performs related duties, following established standards and practices. Reports to supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Maintains required records, reports and statistics as directed.
• Requests supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times. May be assigned to order supplies.
• Attends meetings as required. Participates on committees as assigned.
• Performs technical functions as assigned to include maintenance, quality control and quality assurance.
• Reports equipment or procedural malfunctions.
• Troubleshoots problems when possible.
• Performs computer functions as assigned.
• Performs phlebotomy procedures as assigned. Labels specimens appropriately; discards specimens after required storage.
• Understands scope of limitations. Requests supervisory assistance when appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Functional Demands

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty.
• Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Transferring, repositioning patients.
• Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeing, and crouching for patient care functions.
• Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required.
• Optimal auditory acuity required.
• Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or needles is essential to performing assigned duties.
• Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
• Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests.
• Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit. Maybe subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions need to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced. Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty maybe irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergency circumstances.
• Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.

Licensure/Certification: Must be certified by ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification and maintain certification. If a new grad, must be able to successfully pass certification exam within 6 months of hire. Failure to pass can result in termination of employment. No license required in MS.
