Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England, in Hartford, CT, is seeking a Laboratory professional for the Automated Lab Team. You will perform routine and complex analyses across multiple lab sections, impacting patient diagnosis and care.

Position offers 40 hours, Day Shift with weekend/holiday rotation. Requires BS in Medical Technology or AS in Medical Lab Technology and MT/ASCP or MLT/ASCP certification or eligibility within the first year.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or AS in Medical Lab Technology.
• MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP; eligible to take certification exam and certify within first year.
• New grads welcome.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopy.
• Ensures operation of analyzers and lab equipment by calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and inventory updates.

As a key member of our clinical laboratory, you will perform and report a wide range of routine and highly complex analyses across multiple lab sections—directly impacting patient diagnosis, treatment decisions, and clinical outcomes.

What you will do:

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.


• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures


• Ensures operation of analyzers and all laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Position Hours:

• 40 hours, Day Shift, rotating wknds/holidays

Minimum Requirements:

• BS in Medical Technology or AS in Medical Lab Technology


• MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP. Or must be eligible to take Certification exam and achieve certification within the first year of employment.
