Job summary

Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist with strong Blood Bank experience to join our 40-hour Day Shift. You will perform analyses of blood, fluids and tissues and ensure accurate operation of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Associate's Degree in MLT with NAACLS MT certification pathway.
• MLS or MT-ASCP certification or eligibility within first year.

You would be responsible for providing highly skilled analysis of blood, fluids and tissue samples. Your work is vital to the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients.

Must be a generalist and have experience, including strong Blood Bank experience.

What you will do:

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.

• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures

• Ensures operation of analyzers and all laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Position Hours:

40 hours, Day Shifts (7am-3:30pm), rotating weekends/holidays

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology in NAACLS accredited MT program or Associate's Degree in MLT certification program.

• MLS or MT-ASCP equivalent level certification offered by one of the professional societies. Or must achieve certification within the first year of employment.

• Core Lab experience, including strong Blood Bank experience
