I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Performs a variety of laboratory tests and reports data for diagnosis and treatment of patients.
2. May perform procedures across major laboratory areas or specialize in one such as Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, or Microbiology.
3. No supervision required for specimen processing or reporting of patient test results.

Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:

1. Follows departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
2. Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars as required.
3. Uses Quality Improvement practices in daily operations.
4. Complies with health and safety regulations.
5. Respects diverse views, demonstrates professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance.
6. Maintains reliable and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other duties as required.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required: Registered MT (ASCP) or equivalent.

Experience/Skills:

Required: Experience in a Laboratory.

Preferred: LIS experience is a plus.

Equivalent education and experience may substitute for certification, licensure, or registration.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, talking, using hands, pushing/pulling, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Environmental conditions include work near moving parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals.
