Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform and interpret laboratory tests across neonatal to geriatric patients in the Clinical Laboratory. The position requires meeting certification criteria and standards to ensure accurate results for patient care.

Applicants must have relevant degrees and be eligible for certification through ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB or HHS, with various pathways including military or grandfathered credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and eligibility for certification examination (ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS).
• Associate degree with certification as Medical Technologist/MLS/CLS.
• Military program graduate with MLS/MLS certification.
• Grandfathered technologist with current MLS/CLS certification and ability to perform procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs and interprets laboratory tests for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or medical technology

Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology

Military program in health science with MLS/Medical Technologist certification

Performs and interprets laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and applicants must be eligible for an appropriate certification examination.
  • Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)
• Associates Degree in laboratory science (Chemical or Biological Science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
  • Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)
• Graduate of a Military Program in Science (health science, biology, chemical, physical, medical technology) and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
  • Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)
• Grandfathered Medical Technologist by having previously qualified as a technologist on or before February 28, 1992 and current certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

  • Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.
  • Must submit to a Color-Acuity screening Test
