Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist II to develop and monitor test systems, and to perform and interpret laboratory tests for neonate through geriatric patients. Candidates should demonstrate eligibility for a certifying exam from ASCP/NCA/AMT/AAB/HHS and have related certifications or military program credentials.

The role requires 1 year of clinical laboratory experience, ability to implement procedures per proper standards, and successful color-acuity screening.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for certification examination (ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS).
• Certifying agencies include ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW).
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience.
• Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures per standards and regulations.
• Color-acuity screening test required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and monitors test systems; performs and interprets lab tests for diverse patient populations.
• Ensures testing accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Maintains quality control and instrument maintenance as applicable.
• Communicates results clearly to care teams.

The Medical Technologist II develops and monitors test systems and performs and interprets laboratory tests for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

REQUIRED

1. Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and applicants must be eligible for an appropriate certification examination.
   1. Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)

OR

1. Associates Degree in laboratory science (Chemical or Biological Science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
   1. Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)

OR

1. Graduate of a Military Program in Science (health science, biology, chemical, physical, medical technology) and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist
2. Acceptable certifying agencies include ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)

OR

1. Grandfathered Medical Technologist by having previously qualified as a technologist on or before February 28, 1992 and current certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist. 1.Acceptable certifying agencies include ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW
