Job summary

Northside Hospital in Atlanta seeks a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to perform and interpret laboratory tests across age groups, from neonates to geriatrics, ensuring accurate results for diagnosis and treatment.

Candidates must hold an accredited degree in laboratory science or medical technology, meet certification requirements (ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS), and be able to pass a color-acuity screen; military program graduates encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and eligibility for certification examination (ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS).
• Associate’s degree with certification as Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
• Military program graduate with MLS/CLS certification.
• Grandfathered Medical Technologist with current MLS/CLS certification.
• Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.
• Must submit to a Color-Acuity screening Test.

Responsibilities

• Performs and interprets laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Interprets results to guide patient care and treatment decisions.

Performs and interprets laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and applicants must be eligible for an appropriate certification examination.
  • Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)
• Associates Degree in laboratory science (Chemical or Biological Science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

• Graduate of a Military Program in Science (health science, biology, chemical, physical, medical technology) and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist. 1. Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)
• Grandfathered Medical Technologist by having previously qualified as a technologist on or before February 28, 1992 and current certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist. 1.
