Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking an Medical Support Specialist with EMT credentials to join our Cedar Rapids, IA center. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review test results, and notify donors of unsuitable outcomes, while supporting center operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

You'll bring current EMT licenses (EMT-B/A/I/P), CPR/AED certification, and hospital or clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nursing program graduate may be required.
• Current EMT licensure (EMT-B/A/I/P) and CPR/AED certification.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience in a related setting.
• Knowledge of donor safety, medical history review and basic IV therapy (state requirements).

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, medical history, exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unclear findings or guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance as applicable.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator if authorized by EHS/Medical Affairs.
