Qualifications

• Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned (EMT-B/A/I/P or RN/LPN/LVN).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and support Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport when needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation.
• Refer to EHS guidance on employee incidents.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats.
